FAQs
Payments
Health insurance unfortunately does not cover Rolfing treatments, but Rolfing often produces faster and more lasting results than many insurance-covered therapies. I accept credit cards, cash, and personal checks. I do not offer discounts or accept advance payments for the full series.
Each session, whether part of the 10-series or individual, is $225(USD). If an injury is affecting your ability to earn a living, I am open to discussing affordability—I don’t turn patients away due to cost. Additionally, some clients space their sessions further apart to accommodate their monthly budget.
What should I know for my first session?
Rolfing® is a highly interactive process. I’ll need to assess your posture and movement—standing, walking, and during the session itself. Traditional Rolfing attire is recommended:
For men: briefs or boxer-briefs.
For women: a bra and underwear, or a two-piece swimsuit.
Avoid X-back sports bras or restrictive tops since we’ll work on your back.
If you have concerns about attire, feel free to discuss it with me before your first session. Allow up to 90 minutes for the initial session, during which we’ll review your health history and address any questions. Subsequent sessions last 75 minutes.
What will I feel like after a session?
You’ll notice improvement almost immediately and can resume your normal activities. Occasionally, there might be mild tenderness in the areas we worked on, but this typically resolves in a day or two, leaving you with less pain and greater freedom of movement.
For best results, I recommend avoiding resistance-based exercises for 2–3 days in the areas we worked on. For example, if we focused on releasing your shoulders and arms, skip weightlifting or push-ups during that time. Instead, keep your activity light and focus on other parts of your body.
Do you prescribe stretches or exercises afterward?
No. Rolfing is a complete therapy that produces results directly in the session itself. Unlike physical therapy, there’s no need for tedious follow-up exercises to see results.
If you’re looking for complementary activities, I recommend finding a skilled yoga instructor. Yoga, with over 3,000 years of history, is an artful and effective approach to maintaining flexibility and balance.
Is Rolfing painful?
No, the pain lies in the restrictions and adhesions already present in your body. Releasing these adhesions can feel intense at times—sometimes very intense—but it’s manageable and even children and elderly clients handle it well. Most people feel less pain even after their first session.
For severe injuries, there may be moments of discomfort when working on particularly sensitive areas, but the results are worth it.
What can I expect from Rolfing?
Rolfing delivers rapid and effective results, especially for injuries and performance enhancement. In just a few sessions, you’ll feel significant relief from chronic tension and stiffness that may have built up over decades. Many clients find they make far greater progress in their sport or yoga practice after Rolfing than through other methods.
Rolfing also provides semi-permanent changes. You won’t need ongoing treatments to maintain flexibility—though incorporating yoga or massage into your routine can help maintain overall health. That said, many clients choose to return for periodic sessions because they love the results.
The Rolfing 10-Series, in particular, is a transformative process. It realigns the body and releases accumulated tension built up since childhood. Most individuals go through this process just once or twice in their lifetime—it’s truly unique, profound, and life-changing.
